Campus Summit Feb 2010 Recaps

Here are some recaps of the February Campus Summit…

24th Feb, The First Night

All the campus ministries shared their milestones, thanksgiving and challenges for their campuses.

It was a good exercise where we could just take stock of God’s works on our campuses and be reminded that these ministries ultimately belong to God.

25th February

The morning started with Tom Gooldy’s message quoting from Acts 9-11.

Tom reminded us that in order to face the challenges ahead amidst the myriads of changes,

“Our hearts must not be easily satisfied with just our current level of success” and

“Our hearts must remember that it is ultimately God’s work not ours. We can expect Him to go before us.”

Later, Rich helped us process how our mindset must change if we want to communicate with students nowadays.

He introduced us the concept of making “Stepping Stones” to bring people closer to God. He also gave a brief demo on TOM facebook application. You can find out more of TOM by going to TOM videos.

26th February

Tom in his morning devotion cautioned us not to box God in our ministry box.

In summary he mentioned,

“Our hearts must be willing to embrace God’s work beyond ‘our box’” and

“Our hearts must be willing to risk the Status Quo and take steps of faith”.

After that I concluded the action steps of VLM with these 5 points:

  1. Hot hours for staff to integrate VLM into personal ministry
  2. Online recruitment and outreach to incoming freshmen
  3. Identify key students to form Student-Web Team
  4. Create platforms to cast the VLM vision
  5. Revamp EveryStudent.com
